Why are the crayons shaped so oddly?

Little hands don’t hold them like a pencil, they hold them like a stone. So we made stones.

Classic crayons are thin and they break. Little hands don’t hold them like a pencil; they grip them like a stone. That’s where we started.

We changed the molds three times. The final shape sits comfortably in the hand, doesn’t roll away and doesn’t break when dropped. The smell was an unplanned bonus.
